The recall affects lot #025255 of the 2.1oz bar, which has been available for purchase online and through selected retail partners nationwide since 15 September 2025.
The US chocolatier confirmed that the recall applies only to the specified batch and that no other Spring & Mulberry products are affected.
A third-party laboratory identified the potential contamination during routine testing. There have been no reported illnesses or adverse health effects to date. However, the company said it is “proactively recalling the specific lot in which this risk applies to protect public health”.
Salmonella infection typically develops within 12 to 72 hours of consuming contaminated food and can last for up to a week. While most people recover without treatment, the illness can be dangerous for children, elderly individuals and those with weakened immune systems.
Symptoms may include fever, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, with rare cases leading to more serious complications.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is advising consumers to avoid consuming the affected product and to dispose of it immediately.
Refunds are available by contacting Spring & Mulberry at [email protected] and providing a photograph of the lot code.
