protein bites covered with white chocolate and topped with sprinkles

You could make a basic chicken and rice to hit your protein goals, and, yeah, it could be great. Or better yet, you could tap into good ol’ nostalgia with the help of everyone’s favorite lunchbox legend: Dunkaroos. These bites are a little less messy than the original, with all the sweet, colorful fun, and are perfect as a better-for-you late-night dessert or midday high-protein snack.

Greek yogurt and vanilla protein powder are the sources of protein here, while crushed graham crackers and almond butter bring the nutty cookie flavor you miss from playground days, wrapped in a hard white chocolate and sprinkled shell. The secret: A little coconut oil turns white chocolate chips into a smooth candy coating. Let’s talk vanilla–and you’re only going to hear me say this here–let the good stuff sit this one out. Seriously. While high-quality vanilla won’t ruin your protein bite, imitation vanilla has that cake-batter, sort of artificial taste that you know you secretly love.

Heads up: These bites can be a little ooey-gooey, so you’ll need to chill the filling before dipping. If they soften during the dipping process, pop them back into the freezer for a few minutes. Follow the recipe for your new favorite sweet protein treat, and let me know how it went in the comments below.
