If, like many people, you’ve got an opened jar of cocktail cherries in the fridge after the festivities, here’s a very classy way to use up some of the syrup.

Smoked cherry

15ml jarred cherry syrup
45ml
mezcal – we use Casamigos
10ml maraschino liqueur Luxardo or similar
60ml ChariTea sparkling mate

Measure the cherry syrup into a tall glass, add the mezcal and maraschino, then stir gently to combine. Add ice, top with the sparkling mate and serve.
