Nestlé expands its maternal nutrition solutions through the Materna range, offering science-led staged support from pre-conception to post-birth recovery.

Nestlé has expanded its Materna range, strengthening its maternal nutrition solutions with a staged approach designed to support women’s health from pre-conception through pregnancy and post-partum recovery.
Building on the launch of Materna Expert Preconception Support last year, the company has added two new nutrition solutions – Materna Expert Healthy Pregnancy and Materna Expert Post-Birth Recovery – to deliver targeted, science-based support at each stage of the motherhood journey.
Science-backed nutrition at every stage
More than a decade of research underpins the expanded range, with 17 patents and over 20 peer-reviewed publications reinforcing Nestlé’s focus on long-term, science-driven innovation in maternal health.
Findings from the NiPPeR clinical trial informed the development of Materna Expert Preconception Support and Materna Expert Healthy Pregnancy. The study followed women from pre-conception through pregnancy and post-birth and tested a unique nutritional blend containing probiotics, myo-inositol and vitamins.
Secondary analysis of the trial showed a positive impact on maternal micronutrient status from pre-conception to delivery, improved peripartum health outcomes for mothers, and an association with reduced risk of high weight gain and obesity in children by the age of two.
Materna Expert Post-Birth Recovery completes the portfolio, delivering a nutrition solution designed to address women’s needs after delivery. It supports tissue recovery, energy levels and nutrient intake for breastfeeding, while helping mothers replenish nutrients for their own wellbeing and their baby’s health.
Isabelle Bureau-Franz, Head of R&D for Nutrition at Nestlé, said:
These innovations reflect our unwavering commitment to science-led solutions and our strategic focus on women’s health, a key growth platform for Nestlé. These launches are the result of more than a decade of rigorous research through public-private partnerships demonstrating how tailored nutrition can transform health outcomes for mothers and babies and deliver measurable benefits that last well beyond birth.”
Serena Aboutboul, Head of the Nutrition Business at Nestlé, added:
At Nestlé, we are dedicated to empowering women with the very best nutritional support throughout every stage of motherhood. This further expansion of our Materna range reflects our commitment to translating world-class science into practical solutions that support women at key stages of the motherhood journey. These are not just products; they represent our promise to champion women’s well-being and nurture future generations.”
The staged Materna approach has launched first in China, the world’s second-largest country by annual pregnancies, through cross-border e-commerce under the Wyeth brand. Nestlé also introduced Materna Preconception Support in Brazil last year and plans further country launches in 2026.
