When Thanksgiving rolls around, the two things on our minds are the main turkey dinner and all the desserts. While I can’t get enough of the classic pies, I have to admit—I’m all about the savory stuff. If the entirety of Thanksgiving dinner could be translated into a snack mix, this might be it. Think Chex Mix with amplified additions: garlic, paprika, brown sugar, and a poultry mix of spices, such as dried thyme, rosemary, and sage. It’s like Corn Chex is replacing cornbread, pecans are channeling pecan pie, and the Cheez-It crackers are reminiscent of macaroni and cheese. This is the perfect fun snack mix to set out to satisfy your guests before the meal (and to give a taste for what’s to come!).

There is no perfect formula for making your own snack mix. Feel free to add additions like more nuts and seasonings, or use Wheat Chex, bagel chips, or stuffing cubes in place of the Corn Chex. My top tip, no matter your combination of flavors? Roasting this mix low and slow at 250° is essential for developing that toasted Chex Mix flavor. You don’t want to risk them getting too toasty.

If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. That being said, past the 1-week mark, you’ll want to inspect before diving in. If it’s soft or stale, toss it.
