Move over, caramel apples—grapes have arrived. While it might seem like an out-there pairing, hear me out: dipping green grapes in caramel works so well. It adds an extra sweet touch to the grapes, which already have a perfect poppable crunch. Instead of committing to making whole caramel apples and dangerously attempting to take that first bite, you can have as many sweet little grapes as you want. Whether you’re serving them after a pumpkin patch run or at a tailgate, adults and kids alike will be obsessed with these bite-sized, fall treats.
The coating:
Coating the caramel in peanuts is completely optional, but I love the extra crunch they add. Plus, peanuts pair just as well with grapes as they do with apples. That being said, you can use whatever toppings you please here. Sprinkles or chocolate chips would work just as well. Tip: Choose extra crisp grapes to ensure you get that satisfying crunch!
Serving ideas:
I love to have a platter full of these treats for a party, but you can also just have everyone dip their own if you don’t have the time (or patience) to dip a ton of individual grapes. Set out some toothpicks, and let everyone make their own for a fun fall activity.
The grapes:
Either way, the most important thing to keep in mind is to work with bone-dry grapes. After rinsing them, make sure to dry them off well. You can let them air dry for 20 or so minutes if you need. If the grapes are wet, the caramel will want to slip right off. Chopping the peanuts very finely is also helpful because if the peanuts are too big, they will weigh the caramel down and make it slide off.
Storage:
You can work ahead and dip these a day before, then let them chill in the refrigerator in an airtight container. I prefer it when the grapes are really cold.
