Like moths to a flame, so the Afflecks are to Dunkin’.
On Sept. 15, Dunkin’ released its newest ad featuring an Affleck, except this time “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Jennifer Affleck takes the lead. In a spot titled, “Value Affleck,” the third Jennifer Affleck to enter Ben’s life finds herself inside a Dunkin’ explaining what makes her the best choice for this particular commercial.
“Expecting my cousin Ben?” Jen says to a store full of people thinking “The Accountant” star was about to walk in. Going meta, Jen then explains why she is the spokesperson in the ad for the doughnut-and-coffee chain and not Ben.
“When Dunkin’ has something packed with amazing value, they bring me in. Jen Affleck, the Value, Affleck,” Jen says. “Twice the personality, half the price.”
Jen pitches the $6 meal deal and notes that its value is the reason she was the perfect Affleck for the job and then goes on to trash talk her fellow Affleck.
“You know what’s not value? Ben,” Jen says in the ad. “Why overpay for something that nobody wants? He’s so dated. I’m younger, hotter. Can you believe Ben’s only 53? That’s not like a young 53 it’s like a weathered 53.”
Panning over to the drive-thru window, Ben — who is actually in the ad, too — says he’s a “totally average” 53.
“Right down the 53 fairway,” Ben says, underselling himself.
The $6 Meal Deal
The formerly-named DunKings $6 meal deal first became available nationwide starting Feb. 5 and features a Sausage, Egg and Cheese Sandwich, Hash Browns and a medium hot (14-ounce) or iced (24-ounce) coffee.
Are Jen Affleck and Ben Affleck Related?
Jen calls Ben her “cousin” in the ad as a reference to a viral moment early on in “Secret Wives” when she said she’s married to one of one of the actor’s relatives. While introducing herself in an episode of the Hulu series, Jen says her husband, Zac Affleck, is Ben’s second cousin.
The moment went viral, but genealogists online looked into the Affleck family tree and found there to be no evidence that they share any ancestors.
Jen poked fun at the criticism — in one TikTok, she lip-synchs to “Jenny from the Block” by Jennifer Lopez, who was once a Jen Affleck herself for a time. Finally, in Season 2, Episode 2 of the show, Zac put the kibosh on that association for good, confirming to his wife that there is no relation.
Ben and Jen may not share a family tree, but now they share a love for Dunkin’.
