
If you’re lucky, all you need to do to get a whole bucket of beefy goodness is head to your local drive-thru.
On TikTok, people have been raving about Wendy’s giant buckets of chili for a couple years now. Filmed mostly from their cars, videos show the item sloshing around in its container, threatening the upholstery.
The trend has gained bean-powered speed in recent months, though, with a cadre of creators trying to score a 1.5-quart bucket for themselves.
“How to order giant Wendy’s,” TikToker Sophie Saldana says in an April video before doing just that. She orders a “family style” chili, nuggets and fries before completing her order with a Diet Coke. Her bill? $77.
“Worth it,” reads the on-screen caption over a clip of her dipping nuggets into her vat o’ chili.
“Just found out that Wendy’s sells big buckets of chili,” Omar the Critic says in a May 26 video. He then dumps chicken nuggets in it and slurps it up with a straw, but that’s a story for another time.
So is this meaty cauldron available to all of us? Well, yes and no.
Wendy’s confirmed to TODAY.com that it does, indeed, offer “Family Sized Chili” — but only in some locations.
A representative says availability varies by location, and customers can check to see if their local restaurant offers the family size via Wendy’s website or app. Prices vary by location.
In January 2024, influencer Jordan the Stallion tried and failed in his quest to procure Wendy’s big ol’ bucket of chili. But plenty of other people on TikTok have been successful, so I had to try my own luck.
Unfortunately, my local Wendy’s in the Washington, D.C. area swiftly rejected my request, but the worker there did say they offer a family-size bucket of chicken nuggets, and other locations offer the same with fries.
The employee told me the nugget bucket comes with 45 pieces, which seems perfect for tailgating season, perhaps with a bucket of Olive Garden soup on the side.
